Assessment
Data center assessment involve evaluating and analyzing a data center or server room on – site and providing recommendations on maximizing availability thereby reducing cost and improving efficiency. A data center with high availability is made up of several components that must be synchronized to run and operate smoothly. It is essential to keep these components secure, efficient, and healthy at all times.
Assessments are critical over the lifecycle of a data center facility because technology is constantly being upgraded; the most effective way of delivering power, cooling and telecommunications to support that technology will likely change over the course of a data center’s usable life, which is typically 15-20 years (at a minimum).
At IDCS, we offer a comprehensive array of facility and support infrastructure assessment services aimed at providing clients with recommendations that save money, reduce the time spent implementing upgrades and improvements, and maximize the availability of data centers, computer rooms and other mission critical facilities.
Physical Infrastructure Assessment

This evaluation will provide a thorough assessment of the key physical infrastructure aspects. Included in this service is a report that outlines your physical infrastructure’s readiness to support current and future needs. A benchmark comparison is also completed, including a rating of dozens of specific facets of your physical infrastructure for compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Our physical infrastructure assessment provides a thorough on-site appraisal of; Architectural elements, Electrical system, Mechanical system, IT system and Telecommunication system. During the on-site assessment, our engineer will evaluate your current data center environment based on industry standards and best practices.
Thermal Assessment

During the onsite inspection, we take airflow, air pressure and temperature readings of the data center. From this information we construct a virtual model of the facility using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling. This allows us to assess current thermal conditions that degrade cooling efficiency and identify specific root causes of inefficient thermal management, such as hot spots, insufficient airflow, air recirculation, and improper equipment layout.
From this, recommendations are made to improve cooling performance and provide cost savings opportunities. The thermal assessment culminates with the presentation of a report that will clearly explain, in detail, the current thermal management issues and recommendations for solving them and safely maximizing your data center’s capacity.
Energy Efficiency Assessment

A data center energy efficiency assessment can help to identify ways to reduce annual power consumption and reduce OPEX operating costs. Many organizations only refresh their critical infrastructure every 10-15 years or more. Over such a time period, energy efficiency improvements can be substantial (20-30% or more) as with the development of modular uninterruptible power supplies and liquid-based cooling solutions.
Our energy efficiency assessments services identify opportunities within existing power and cooling systems that will lower the total power usage. We provide programmatic steps that allow to gain control of the operating environment through the institution of leading energy management processes, systems, software automation, and control technologies.
